Maybe I have a skewed view of "real". I don't consider sterling and many stones to be fine jewelry. By that definition, I guess most of mine is real, but I don't store sterling or turquoise or many other stones in my jewelry box because so many of them are chunkier. I mostly keep my important gold pieces, diamonds and pieces I wear most often in the box. But if your collection is extensive and you have difficulty maintaining order, I'd suggest you use multiple boxes with a different classification in each box (i.e. sterling in one, certain gemstones in another, diamonds in a separate box, etc.).
But if you don't mind the many boxes, I don't think they necessarily look bad. I just know that for me I wouldn't be able to remember what was in each box , so I would have to store them differently.
