On February 10, at the Mingyang Hainan Dongfang Base in the Dongfang Lingang Industrial Park, workers were busy with mold layering, trailing edge beam lamination, glue infusion, and hoisting operations. These activities are part of a groundbreaking project led by Mingyang Group—an offshore wind-powered hydrogen production and hydrogen energy integration initiative, and the world’s first million-ton-scale green hydrogen-ammonia-methanol verification project.
“The project represents a total investment of 37.1 billion yuan, with an initial phase investment of 10.67 billion yuan. We have already completed key preparatory steps, including project approval, land acquisition, feasibility studies, biomass feedstock research, and the establishment of a biomass collection and storage system. The technical roadmap is finalized, and land clearing is currently underway. We plan to officially break ground in June this year,” said Zhang Gang, General Manager of Hainan Mingyang New Energy Chemical Technology Co., Ltd.
Once operational, the project will employ advanced biomass gasification technology to produce green methanol through chemical reactions, aligning with the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) standards for global maritime transportation. This initiative is expected to play a leading role in shaping the international green fuel industry.
s one of Mingyang Group’s key investments in Hainan, the Mingyang Hainan Dongfang Base specializes in manufacturing state-of-the-art offshore wind power equipment. In 2024, the base is projected to achieve an industrial output of 1.167 billion yuan. It has also successfully rolled out the MySE292, the world’s longest wind turbine blade, measuring 143 meters in length, with a rotor diameter of 292 meters and a swept area exceeding 66,000 square meters.
