On the 13th, Southern Power Grid announced that the construction of a new power system in southern China is advancing rapidly. As of now, the total installed new energy capacity in the five southern provinces—Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan—has surpassed 200 million kilowatts.

Currently, the total installed new energy capacity in the Southern Power Grid service area stands at 202 million kilowatts, accounting for 36.6% of the region’s total installed power capacity. New energy has firmly maintained its position as the leading source of power. Specifically, wind power accounts for 62.16 million kilowatts, solar power (photovoltaic) for 129.65 million kilowatts, and biomass power for 9.46 million kilowatts.

The share of new energy in the Southern Power Grid has reached as high as 56.5%, meaning that during peak consumption periods, more than half of the electricity comes from new energy sources. Regionally, Guangxi leads with the highest share of new energy installations, making up nearly 50% of the total power capacity in the region. Yunnan has seen the fastest growth in new energy capacity, with an average annual growth rate of 47% since the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan.
